Bus Stop, by Wiliam Inge, directed by Nicholas Martin is a slice of Middle America in the 1950s.
I composed original music for the top of show, and chose music that helped convey the era.
Top of show
After establishing a musical vocabulary with found music, I decided on using Harmonica, Guitar and Banjo.
End of show
As the bus stop is closed up without dialog and the audience is left with the loneliness of Grace and Virgil, my original intent was to let the play end in silence. However, seeing it on stage, I found that it needed something. A harmonica rendition of Hank Williams Please Don't Let Me Love You was what I decided on, finished with an original guitar cadence.
